 The Homeward Initiative is the first Host Homes Program in Philadelphia for LGBTQ youth ages 18 to 25.

A Host Home provides a private, dedicated safe space in a welcoming home environment for 1-6 months for a young person who identifies as LGBTQ.

A Host is a caring and affirming adult who is sensitive to the needs of LGBTQ youth and is ready to provide them with housing, stability and support.

HOW WE BEGAN

The Homeward Initiative was founded in May 2019 through a $150,000 grant from the University of Pennsylvania to address the lack of LGBTQ-affirming housing for young people in Philadelphia.
